Military Mapping Maidens of WWII

This exhibit highlights the civilian service of 224 young women who trained and took jobs in Washington D.C. as wartime cartographers pioneering the work in mapmaking between 1943 and 1945 enabling the Allied forces to make decisions and act swiftly on the battlefield. This story, told through the experiences of three of those map makers is an ideal educational exhibit. Their dedication, and sacrifice for the war effort helped shape the outcome of the war.
